About the Song
“A Tax” is a poetic exploration of oppression, corruption, and resistance across borders. Through layered wordplay and vivid storytelling, the track highlights how economic and political systems impose heavy costs on ordinary people worldwide.
From “Kindergarten kids learning how to count the carcasses” to “Somebody go and tell Goliath that he’s NOT THAT BIG,” the song juxtaposes ancient allegories with modern struggles, delivering both urgency and hope.
Quoting the song’s powerful chorus:
“We're All under A Tax/attacks!”

About the Album
A Tax is the lead single from Songs of SABA (Solomon and Bilqees Allegories), a collaborative project reimagining the wisdom and archetypes of Solomon and The Queen of Sheba through hip hop. Rooted in truth-telling and spiritual consciousness, the album bridges ancient allegory with contemporary reality.

Artist Statement
“Music is more than entertainment, it’s documentation, testimony, and protest, just to name a few. It invites solidarity.” says One Be Lo. “One thing that connects us all, are taxes. Whether you pay or happen to receive those benefits, the earth we share is impacted by our tax dollars. A Tax is about what happens when the people pay for wars and corruption they didn’t create. It’s about survival, truth, and collective responsibility.
In today's world, we need more unity, less division. Songs of SABA is our contribution towards more unity and connection with these allegorical tales of Solomon and The Queen of Sheba.”
